Exclusive | MSME relief on cards: Former Cab Secy led panel to suggest overhaul of Quality Control Orders

A high-level government committee, according to sources, has made some "key recommendations" to help MSMEs access cheaper imported components and raw material.

In particular, the recommendations will help ease a stringent quality control framework, including reducing the number of technical assessments from 10 under which the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) operates to two, and inspections will shift from the factory to the market, as The Indian Express reported. During a high level committee meeting on September 6 on Non-Financial Regulatory Regulation (HLC-NFRR) chaired by Rajiv Gauba, a member of NITI Aayog, the committee discussed issues facing industry and stakeholders in terms of certification under Quality Control Orders (QCOs). The recommendations were finalized during the meeting.
